The first annual University Challenge, which was developed by the ITLG and sponsored by eircom, was held in the fall of 2010. Each of the nine universities from Ireland was able to nominate promising companies to the University Challenge. These companies were offered the opportunity to present their technology to the Silicon Valley delegation at the Silicon Valley Comes to Ireland event held on November 17, 2010 in Limerick.
